Hospitality pinpad support
Hospitality application supports the Verifone P400 and V240m pinpad
You can connect the V240m to your network via WiFi or via Bluetooth (with pinpad in Client mode). This is where the supplied Full-Feature base connects via ethernet to the network and the V240m connects via Bluetooth to the base.
When it powers up for the first time, the V240m allows you to select the connection type you want.
If no selection is made, the selection menu times out and the pinpad defaults to a WiFi connection. The next time the V240m is powered on, the menu appears once more.
Once a selection has been made, the Comm Mode menu does not appear again. If required, the connection type can be changed by accessing the Engineering menu.
HPA expects the V240m to operate in client mode.
V240M CONNECTION TYPE SELECTION
On powering up the V240m a prompt to enter a password will be shown
Enter password 2345
The Comm Mode menu will be shown Options are WiFi Bluetooth
Select the appropriate option for your environment.
The V240m then displays the VIPA welcome screen.
If using the V240m in Bluetooth mode the next step is to pair the pinpad with the Full-Feature base (FF-base). If using WiFi mode the next step is to connect the pinpad to your WiFi network.
See appropriate sections below.
V240 ENGINEERING MENU

The strength of the WiFi signal is indicated by the number of bars displayed in the WiFi icon on the left hand side of the V240m screen
9) The next step is to configure network parameters – see the section V240m Network connection below
V240M BLUETOOTH MODE
This section describes the steps required to pair the V240m with the Full Feature base (FF-base)
- Connect the V240m FF-Base to your local area network (LAN) using a Cat 5 Ethernet cable.
Ensure the cable is connected to the correct RJ45 socket on the Base.
The correct one is the middle of the 3 RJ-45 sockets on the rear of the base
Note the Serial number of the FF-Base from its underside e.g. S/N 318-427-068.
This is needed for the next steps.
Pair the V240m with the FF-Base and follow below steps from a) to t) :
a) Power up the FF-Base and wait for its start up process to be completed. Whilst the FF-Base is starting up the topmost white light on the left hand side of the FF-Base will continuously blink, then all 3 lights on the base will light up briefly, and then the topmost white light on the left hand side of the base will return to blinking continuously.
After a few minutes the topmost white light will become solid – the FF-Base is ready for operation when this point is reached.
b) Place the V240m PED on or near the FF-Base. Ensure the battery level of the V240m is at least 20%
c) From the V240m enter the Engineering menu
d) Select option Comms Setup from the Engineering Menu
e) Select option Comm Type
f) Select option Bluetooth You will be returned to the Comms Setup Menu
g) From the Comms Setup menu select option BT Config
h) Select option Add BT profile
i) You will see Network Search on the V240m screen as it searches for available Bluetooth devices
j) At this point press and release the Bluetooth pairing button on the FF-Base to put it into pairing mode.
The button is found on the front of the FF-Base on the right hand side A blue light will start flashing on the left hand side of the FF-Base.
k) On the V240m screen the list of devices found will be displayed
l) Select the one corresponding to the serial number of the FF-Base station
e.g. V240m-B-FF 318-427-068
m) Select Pairing method SSP with passkey. The PIN is 123456
n) After successful pairing the BT config menu will be shown.
o) Select option Set BT profile
p) Select the newly created BT profile
q) You will be returned to the BT Config menu.
r) Exit the Engineering menu by pressing the red Exit/Cancel ( X ) repeatedly The V240m screen will show ‘Starting Comms’.
s) When the V240m has successfully paired with the FF-Base the screen will show Press Enter to Begin Transaction The Bluetooth symbol will show in the top left hand corner of the screen.
t) Exit the Engineering menu by pressing the red Exit/Cancel ( X ) repeatedly
The next step is to configure network parameters – see the section V240m Network connection below
V240M NETWORK CONNECTION
This section describes the steps required to configure the V240m network parameters for connection with HPA.
These steps apply to both WiFi and Bluetooth connection modes.
The V240m is supplied with the following default network parameters:
1) TCP mode: Client This required for normal Hospitality application connection. If using CHM mode with HPA, change this setting parameter to TCP Server mode.
2) DHCP: ON This is set for convenience.
3) Static: Once you select Static IP from IP mode. You must enter the parameters below:
a) Press the 1 key and the yellow Clear (<) key simultaneously.
b) Enter the password SE915074.
c) Navigate to TCP/IP setup >> IP mode and select Static IP.
d) Now enter the parameters below:
IP Address: Defines the static IP address for the device. If it is not defined or is set to 0.0.0.0, DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is assumed.
Subnet mask: To get this information, enter the ipconfig command at the command prompt. The mask is only used if the static IP is defined.
Gateway: Defines the default gateway for the device. To find out the gateway, use the ipconfig command at the command prompt.
DNSPRI: Defines primary DNS address. Only used if the static IP is defined.
DNSSEC: Defines secondary DNS address. Only used if the static IP is defined.
4) Auto connection: Disabled Auto-connection is disabled by default to allow easier initial network connection. For normal Hospitality application connection, set this parameter to Enabled.
5) To connect to HPA configure the IP address and listening port of HPA and set the TCP mode and autoconnection as follows:
a) Enter the Engineering menu.
b) Select option TCP/IP setup.
c) Select option Server/Client Mode.
d) Select TCP Client.
e) From the TCP/IP menu select option Host Setup.
f) Select option Host 1, Host 10.150.12.100 iappears as the default.
g) Select Edit option.
h) Use the Clear (yellow ‘<’ ) key to delete existing ip address.
i) Use numeric keys to enter ip address of Hospitality application's platform, e.g. 192.168.0.5 (Press 1 key 6 times to get the . character).
j) You are prompted to enter the port, Port 16107 is the default.
k) Use Clear (yellow ‘<’ ) key to delete the existing port. Enter the port for the Hospitality application instance, e.g. 5001.
l) Exit the Host set up menu using the Cancel (red ‘X’) key.
m) From the TCP/IP Setup menu select the Auto Connection option.
n) Select Enabled.
o) Press the Cancel (red ‘X’) key to exit the TCP/IP Setup menu.
p) The V240m now attempts to connect to the Hospitality application on the IP address and listening port configured.
6) For Bluetooth mode, you must set the base station to Bridge mode if static IP is configured rather than router. Both options are described below:
Bridge Mode - The Terminal will acquire the PAN IP address from the network
Router Mode - The terminal will acquire the PAN IP address directly from the base
Follow these steps to change Base network mode which is one of the configs required only in case of static IP.
a) Press key 1 and the yellow Clear (<) simultaneously.
b) Enter the password SE915074.
c) Navigate to Comms setup.
d) Under BT config option, select “Base Network mode”.
e) You will see two options - Bridge and Router, so you select Bridge here.
f) The device should reboot now.
g) Once device is back online, you can initialize HPA.
7) The message Connecting appears on V240m screen. If the connection is successful the V240m restarts and then displays the Hospitality application home screen and the prompt Enter Table Number.
