This is a payment terminal with a screen and integrated receipt printer, merchants use it to take card-present payments.
Power and Charging
The V240m is supplied with the following:
Internal rechargeable battery
Power Supply Unit (PSU)
(Optional) Full-Feature base (FF-base) station for charging and to support an Ethernet-Bluetooth connection (Ethernet to base, Bluetooth from base to payment terminal)
You can plug the PSU directly into the payment terminal itself. A more practical option is to plug the PSU into the FF-base station, and place the payment terminal in the base station for charging. If you want to use the payment terminal in Ethernet-Bluetooth mode, you must connect the PSU to the FF-base station. This is because the base station connects the payment terminal to the network.
When the payment terminal is not connected to power, press the green Accept key (O) to switch it on and off. To switch off, hold down the green Accept key (O) for approximately 10 seconds.
The payment terminal automatically switches itself on when it is connected to power, or docked into a powered base station. When connected to power you cannot switch it off. To restart it, hold down the green Accept key (O) for approx. 10s.
The V240m cannot operate reliably if the battery charge level is low. Once the charge level reaches a low level the IPS application warns that battery levels are low. When you see this warning, you must charge the device. When the battery level falls below 10%, the V240m stops responding to transaction requests and no user input is accepted until it is charged.
Connection Type Selection
When you power up the V240m a prompt to enter a password appears.
Enter the password 2345
The Comm Mode menu appears. The options are
Select the appropriate option for your environment. The V240m then displays the VIPA welcome screen.
If you want to use the V240m in Bluetooth mode the next step is to pair the terminal with the Full-Feature base (FF-base). If you want to use WiFi mode, the next step is to connect the terminal to your WiFi network.
See the appropriate sections below.
These sections describe the steps to configure the V240m. During this process, you sometimes need to access the V240m Engineering menu.
To enter the Engineering menu
Press key 1 and the yellow Clear (<) simultaneously.
Enter the password SE915074
The V240m allows alphanumeric input.
To enter letters, press the appropriate numeric key the necessary number of times e.g. to enter S, press the 7 key four times in succession; to enter E, press the 3 key three times in succession. To delete something, use the yellow Clear key (<).
To connect to the WiFi :
Enter the V240m Engineering menu.
Select the Comms setup option.
Select Comm type option and then select WiFi.
Select Add WiFi profile.
Select Wifi network from the network scan list.
If you are using a hidden SSID scroll down the network scan list to the (Manual) entry and follow the prompts to manually enter your SSID and other parameters.
A password prompt appears. Enter the WiFi password.
To exit the Engineering menu, press the red Exit/Cancel button (X) repeatedly.
When you leave the Engineering menu a message Starting Comms appears. This shows that the V240m is trying to connect to IPS on the configured IP address & port and WiFi access point.
When the V240m has successfully established connection with WiFi the message Press Enter to Begin Transaction appears.
The WiFi icon on the left side of the V240m screen shows the strength of the signal by the number of bars.
The next step is to configure network parameters – see the section
V240m Network connectionbelow.
Note: WiFi Roaming There is a limitation on V240m terminals installed with the firmware VIPA 22.214.171.124 HF6 and below. To enable Wi-Fi roaming do not select the WiFi network from the network scan list (Step 5 above). Instead, scroll down the network scan list to the (Manual) entry and follow the prompts to manually enter your SSID and other parameters. This limitation has gone with the VIPA 126.96.36.199 HF5 firmware. Contact Worldpay Support to find out how to upgrade your terminals to this firmware version.
This section describes the steps needed to pair the V240m with the Full Feature base (FF-base).
Use a Cat 5 Ethernet cable to connect the V240m FF-Base to your local area network (LAN). Ensure the cable is connected to the correct RJ45 socket on the Base. The correct one is the middle of the 3 RJ-45 sockets on the rear of the base.
Note the Serial number of the FF-Base from its underside, for example S/N 318-427-068. You need this for the next few steps.
Pair the V240m with the FF-Base.
Power up the FF-Base and wait for its start up process to finish. When the FF-Base starts the upper white light on the left hand side of the FF-Base will continuously blink. Then all three lights on the base will light up briefly. Then the upper white light on the left hand side of the base will return to blinking continuously. After a few minutes the upper white light is on continuously - the FF-Base is now ready.
Place the V240m PED on or near the FF-Base and ensure the battery level of the V240m is at least 20%.

From the Engineering menu, select the Comms Setup menu.
Select the Comm Type option.
Select the Bluetooth option, you return to the Comms Setup menu.
From the Comms Setup menu select the BT Config option.
Select the Add BT profile option. Network Search appears on the V240m screen as it searches for available Bluetooth devices.
This next part explains how to pair the devices.
Press and release the Bluetooth pairing button on the FF-Base to put it into pairing mode. The button is on the front of the FF-Base on the right side. A blue light starts flashing on the left side of the FF-Base.
Look at the V240m screen which should display a list of the devices found.
Select the device that has the serial number of the FF-Base station you noted in step 2 of the
Bluetooth modeinstructions above.
Select Pairing method SSP with passkey. The PIN is 123456 After successful pairing the BT config menu appears.
The Set BT profile option appears.
Select the newly created BT profile. You return to the BT Config menu.
To exit from the various menus and the Engineering menu, press the red Exit/Cancel ( X ) button repeatedly. The message Starting Comms appears on the V240m screen.
When the V240m has successfully paired with the FF-Base the screen shows Press Enter to Begin Transaction. The Bluetooth symbol appears in the top left hand corner of the screen.
Configure the network parameters
The next step is to configure network parameters. This section describes the steps required to configure the V240m network parameters for connection with IPS.
These steps apply to both WiFi and Bluetooth connection modes.
The V240m is supplied with the following default network parameters:
TCP mode: Client- This is for a normal IPS application connection
DHCP: ON This is set on for convenience. Use the Engineering menu to configure static network parameters
Auto connection: Disabled Auto-connection is disabled by default to allow easier initial network connection. For normal IPS application connection, set this parameter to Enabled.
To connect to IPS configure the ip address and listening port of IPS and set the tcp mode and autoconnection as follows.

Select the TCP/IP setup option.
Select the Server/Client Mode option.
Select the TCP Client option.
From the TCP/IP menu select the Host Setup option.
Select the Host 1 option - Host 10.150.12.100 is shown as default.
Select the Edit option.
Press the Clear (yellow < ) key to delete an existing IP address.
Use numeric buttons to enter IP address of IPS application's platform, for example 192.168.0.5 (Press 1 key 6 times to get the . character).
You are prompted to enter the port, Port 16107 is the default.
Press the Clear (yellow < ) key to delete the existing port and enter the port for IPS application instance. For example, 5001.
Press the Cancel (red ‘X’) key to exit the Host set up menu.
From the TCP/IP Setup menu, select Auto Connection option.
Press the Cancel (red ‘X’) key to exit from the TCP/IP Setup menu.
The V240m will now attempt to connect to IPS application on the IP address and listening port configured.
Connecting appears on the V240m screen. If the connection is successful, the V240m restarts and then displays the IPS application home screen.
